Locally owned business. You can call and actually talk to a person right away! Very good service.
I have had a decidedly different experience than another reviewer here. When I moved here 19 years ago, the folks at Hancock Telephone bent over backwards to ensure that I had reliable, high speed internet for my business, even though I live several miles outside of town. Their customer service is incredible for a small town. How many of those who have Verizon can email a technician who lives in the community and get a rapid personal response? Since I've lived here, I have had very few major problems (1 that I recall), and I've always received assistance within a reasonable amount of time, even after hours and on weekends. The fact that most of the community has high speed internet considering our very rural location is amazing. A little bit of gratitude, appreciation, and understanding go a long way. These guys and gals are doing a phenomenal job against the odds. I am SO grateful I'm not just another number to a big company like Verizon. Keep up the good work, Hancock Tel!
When you have a monopoly, you can be as terrible as you want. This is the most hated company in Hancock, and that is tough to do. They manage to fail on every front. The cheapest internet available is $80+ a month. You have to purchase DSL, so you are paying for a phone and the 2mb internet. The service is horrid. No one has reliable internet. They have every excuse - buy new hardware (from them), new wire (from them), or have their special service guy do nothing (but still charge for it). You miss a bill by a day, though, and they shut your internet down IMMEDIATELY. The very second. Incredible how fast they can serve themselves. Customer diService is a joke. Every person in the building is a bear with a sore tooth. Interrupt their Instagram and Facebook and gossip, and you will be ripped apart verbally. This place has been promising high-speed cable internet for years. No one knows how they can lead everyone along like this without being sued. They take state money and have nothing - NOTHING - to show for it. This town will never have quality internet. So keep paying $80-$270 for your terrible internet, because you have no choice. None.
